Cathrine Abuamsha

7amleh - The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media

Cathrine Abuamsha is the Local Advocacy Manager of 7amleh – The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media. Within her work, Cathrine’s role is to prepare local advocacy strategy and action plans, monitor and follow up on policies and violations targeting or affecting Palestinian digital rights and discourse, and supervise and review studies and position papers. Her role also includes planning and carrying out lobbying and advocacy campaigns and build and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders. She is also the data protection project coordinator at 7amleh.
Formerly, Cathrine was an advocacy lawyer at the Local and Regional Advocacy Department of Al-Haq for 3 years, an intern at the International Legal Research and Advocacy Department of Al-Haq and a legal research intern at Badil Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights.
Cathrine has been a certified practicing lawyer since January 2017. She is an Open Society Foundation grantee of the Palestinian Rule of Law Award 2017, which she received to pursue her LL.M. degree that focused on International Law and Human Rights. She obtained her LL.M. degree from Syracuse University College of Law in New York in 2018 and her LL.B. degree from Al-Quds University in 2014.
She has authored and co-authored many published articles and working papers on varied topics around the human rights situation in Palestine. Topics included the rule of law, the freedom of opinion and expression, apartheid, forced population transfer, and others.
